A Passover Of Obedience

Is it possible to know how Yeshua observed passover? Can we, today, reproduce the passover of Yeshua\'s last supper? Was this last supper even a Passover meal? All these things are addressed on this site - we hope you find it not only useful but also a great blessing.

As Messianic Believers we desire only to do those things that are pleasing to our Lord and God. If we adopt any "Jewish practice" it is merely in a desire to please the One who has so wonderfully saved and redeemed us.

We recognise that it is into the Olive tree of Israel that we have been grafted - whether naturally or otherwise (Romans 11:16-24). Speaking of the Jewish people Scripture says, "unto them were committed the oracles of God." (Romans 3:2) It is with gratitude that we recognise this, for they faithfully preserved the Word of God, our Bible; each word of our New Testament was written by a Jewish person; and, wonderfully, it was through them that our Messiah came. It was Jewish people who first laid down their lives that we might hear the Good News of Salvation.

We have to acknowledge that, alone amongst the twelve tribes, it was the Jewish people who have in any way preserved the things of YHWH God. Throughout all His dealings with His people Israel, YHWH made it plain that they were not to adopt the ways of the people amongst whom they lived - especially in the way they approached and worshipped Him. He was so concerned about the purity of His people\'s worship that it was for disobedience in this area He scattered the ten tribes throughout the Gentile nations. It was for this very thing that He sent Judah & Benjamin into captivity. Yet since the time of Yeshua His people, whether the Jewish nation or the Church, have gradually adopted pagan practices into their worship. In fact they often seemed to compete in copying each other in this!

This is also true of Passover. Over the centuries the Jewish people have added traditions and practices, often copied from people they have dwelt amongst. An example of this is the roasted egg which appears on the Seder plate. This was adopted into the Passover Seder in the Middle Ages, at about the time the Church did the same thing. These have now become what we know as Easter Eggs. Something that certainly does not please YHWH God! (Just think about this for a minute. This alone means that our Seder plates will look different from our Jewish brothers & sisters!)

Because of this we, along with many others, have carefully researched the Passover of the first century, the Passover of Yeshua Himself. Our first port-of-call for this has obviously been the Bible itself. We have then had to look carefully into the historic documents describing practices in and around this time. From this, and after many years of observing Passover for ourselves, we have produced the documents you will find on this site. We have also made them available in PDF format so that you might easily reproduce them for your own non-commercial use.
